Recently I undertook work for an Edinburgh based salon; Long Life Spa Therapy which had initial branding done by a third party. The initial branding was slightly problematic on several counts. Firstly, the branding was out-of-date as the customer had changed their name slightly, yet had no way to update their logo, nor had any high resolution file suitable to pass to any designers or developers.
Working from a low resolution JPG, the first task was to identify the fonts being used, which proved no problem. The second task was then to re-create the leaf and have this available on a transparent background and as a scalable vector. Slightly trickier, but still not an overall problem.
Once I had the elements correct, I modified the logo and updated one of the fonts in use to be more consistent with their salon. The customer was then provided with an EPS file and PSD file so that they are able to go to any designer with a high resolution and editable file so that the quality of their brand is never compromised due to lacking the original files.
Lastly, the customer required a flyer but wanted something much smaller to give to their own customers who visited the salon, so they opted for a design that would fit on a business card. Each card contains all the contact details, a quick overview of the services provided and a mission statement. Again everything is branded to their salon.
