Concern over park suggestion

Archived from May 2016

I WAS quite surprised to learn that the group Growing in Lochgelly (GiL) was involved in the Public Park Improvement Group (PPIG).

The claim was made by PPIG chairperson Mr Stevie Murray in an online article ‘Public Park in Lochgelly is sporting a new look’ which appeared on the Central Fife Times website on the May 2 2016.

It is regrettable that the PPIG has not been able to involve a broad cross-section of park users and community groups in its planning to date, so I find it quite bizarre that Mr Murray would then attribute work at the Public Park to GiL.

GiL has never participated in any aspects of the developments at the Public Park.

It is also a matter of concern that the paper publishes Mr Murray’s comments verbatim without any form of fact-checking with the groups mentioned. I hope that the Central Fife Times will publish a correction in due course.
